Delhi

We're happily settled in Delhi now...thanks to the hospitality of my old neighbors, The Prevosts, from Chevy Chase. They are from France and Rwanda, so we're enjoying a strange combination of Sheetal's Marathi with English and French thrown in most of the time.

Yesterday we went to the American Embassy for Sheetal's visa. Unfortunately, they have not received a document from the U.S. that is required for Sheetal to leave. They're working hard on the issue and I'm trying to be patient, but there's nothing I can do since the document comes from Baltimore. Send good karma that we can get the visa on Monday.

Another part of the visa process involves an exit physical by an approved Embassy physician. We saw a most wonderful doctor who made Sheetal giggle the entire time--she even gave her the choice to have vaccinations in India or America. Sheetal (and I) chose the American option.

Afterwards, we took our first rickshaw ride. Steven was nervous about falling out, despite being sandwiched between Corey and I. Sheetal fell asleep sucking her thumb (the lecture the doctor gave her about buck teeth obviously had no affect.)

Steven is really enjoying time here with the Prevosts. He plays with Arthur, age 9 and Juliana, age 10. They have a trampoline and a ping-pong table--as well as Cheerios and Power Rangers on t.v. Sheetal loves running after the boys and bouncing on the trampoline.

We're going to attempt an outing today, despite the intense heat. We hear there are bumper cars and other attractions.
